3 Steps to ‘Small Change’ Your Way to Better Health

By Kimberly Petrosino, CHHC

Small Change Your Way to Better Health No matter where you are in your health journey, you can always benefit from a few simple tweaks to your lifestyle. As we grow and change, the things that worked for us once may not work anymore. You may be a health-obsessed, green-smoothie-drinking gym rat or a total couch potato.

Most of us fall somewhere in between. Wherever you are, whatever stage of life you’re in, it’s important to make your health your number one priority. In the rush of everyday life, I realize that’s not always easy to do. Allow me to simplify it for you!

Here are 3 Steps to Small Change Your Way to Better Health. These are small changes you can incorporate into the life you’re already living. You’ll barely notice they’re there, but you will certainly notice the results in the long run!

3 Steps to Small Change Your Way to Better Health.

Step #1:

Increase your water intake. No matter how many times I talk about small changes, I believe this will always be my number one. Increasing your water intake is the easiest and cheapest thing you can do for your health, yet so few people actually do it!

Drinking water ensures your body is eliminating toxins, helps you sleep better, increases your energy level, and so much more. Add more water to your day by carrying around a reusable water bottle or snacking on fruits and veggies, which are full of water. If you’re bored with plain water, add some fruits, veggies and even herbs to jazz it up a little!

Step #2:

Start cooking at home. When you’re cooking food at home, you have the luxury of knowing exactly how your food was prepared and what is going in it. Even if you’re always on the go, there are things you can do! Cook with the intention of having leftovers. This will cut down on the number of days spent in the kitchen. Divide up the tasks. Get the kids or your significant other (or even your friends!) to help out, throw on some cooking music and bond while you work.

Step #3:

Small Change Your Health book coverBuild a support system. Cultivating healthy relationships is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle. Make sure you’re in regular touch with your loved ones. Get together with them as much as possible, and call in between. Share your new healthy living tips with them and see if you can get them on board too!

It’s always so much easier when you have a strong support system around you. Get your co-workers involved too! Take turns bringing in a healthy snack or lunch. Get the girls together once a month for a healthy potluck. Once you realize you have a great team surrounding you, you’ll realize how much fun this can be!
