This is an addendum to my earlier post on turmeric health benefits. While on a business trip to Sint Maarten, W.I. this week, I happened to stop at the local produce market in Marigot, full of fresh spices including cinnamon bark, star anise, ginger root and turmeric root to name a few.
Many of the Caribbean islands are dubbed the “spice islands” and for good reason. They grow lots of spices there. A local spice vendor in Marigot, Kevin, was educating shoppers about the health benefits of the spices he was selling. He picked up a piece of root that looked very much like ginger root, only smaller and more orange. It was turmeric, also known as “yellow ginger.” In this short video clip Kevin shares some of the benefits of turmeric.
