Grapefruit can interfere with some prescriptions by causing them to remain in your system longer than they should. However, other commonly eaten, healthy foods may also interfere with some prescription medications.

So being aware of which foods may interact with your meds can go a long way towards warding off other ailments.
When I first saw this info-graphic below, I was shocked to see that aged cheeses can react with anti-depressants by causing high blood pressure. Really? Who knew?! If you are on anti-depressants, has your doctor recommended you avoid aged cheeses? Not likely…
When one of my family members developed high blood pressure, we were all baffled. He was a healthy vegetarian; totally fit and active; meditated; and with no family history—he had none of the lifestyle habits that normally lead to high blood pressure. His doctors couldn’t explain it.
Now seeing this info graphic it all makes sense! He loves his sharp cheddar cheese, and had been taking anti-depressants for a few years. Bingo! A few months after he stopped taking anti-depressants, his blood pressure started to return to normal.
