  1. HOW TO FIND SAFE, ORGANIC SUNSCREENS: Did you know that the skin is the largest organ in your body? Your skin absorbs up to 60% of anything it comes into contact with, and for kids it’s an even higher percentage. Most sunscreens on the market today are chock-full of toxic chemicals that I can’t even pronounce, so I really don’t want to put those on my skin. Luckily there are some safer alternatives on the market these days. Read more to find healthy alternative sunscreens

    Sugar Cookies

  3. NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC: SUGAR LOVE: As some of you know, I’m not a big fan of sugar. The August 2013 cover story of National Geographic: Sugar Love (A not so sweet story) is an EXCELLENT article about SUGAR: it’s history, addiction, and new scientific research on just how harmful it is for you. 5. REFRESHINGLY COOL FRUIT POPSICLES: Who doesn’t love a fruit popsicle on a hot summer day? But most of them are so loaded with sugar, artificial colorings and artificial flavorings they don’t even taste like “fruit”. By using the whole fruit, and not just fruit juice, you will get all that good nutritional value, fruit fiber and pulp which helps aid digestion and will also help prevent a spike in your blood sugar too. 11. PERSONAL TIME CAN REVITALIZE YOUR ENERGY: It seems that in this fast-paced, high-tech world we live in, many of the technologies and devices that are supposed to help us “save time”, are actually eating up more of our time. Who hasn’t been sucked down the rabbit hole of Facebook, Pinterest, or YouTube a time or two? Research has shown that we need downtime to help us decompress, and revitalize our energy: time away from computers and techno-gadgets; time out in nature; time to paint, draw, write, create; time to ourselves and do what ever we want, without responsibilities. Baja Shrimp Tacos

  13. BAJA SHRIMP TACOS: One of the best things about hanging out in Baja is the abundance of delicious fresh fish and shrimp tacos. They are made with fresh corn tortillas, local ingredients like tomatoes, avocados, cabbage, cilantro, limes, and fresh-caught fish or shrimp. When making your own, be sure to look for fresh-caught or frozen shrimp from Mexico, the Gulf Coast, or Florida Keys rather than frozen farmed shrimp from Southeast Asia. Not only is farmed shrimp harder on the planet, many polluted rivers run right through shrimp farms. Read more to try this great Baja Shrimp taco recipe

  15. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK: If you are new to meditation, or would like to get back into the habit of daily meditation, the Oprah & Deepak Chopra’s daily meditations are a great place to start. They are short, 10-15 minute guided mediations. We try to start each day by doing one of their meditations, which helps set the tone for the day and gives you a “theme” to think about as you go about your day.
